David Hurd

David Hurd began his career in the “Pageantry Arts” with The Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps from Denver Colorado in 1999. It has become his passion ever sense. He is a highly sought after drill and show designer, while heading up the visual programs for several of the top programs in Colorado. David is currently the visual caption head at Air Academy, Legend and Liberty High Schools in Colorado. David also consults with several other programs in the state and around the country. During his tenure, at Air Academy HS, they have been named as the 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 4A State Marching Band Champion winning Visual, Music and General Effect captions. Air Academy has never placed lower than 3rd since 2004. In 2006, 2007 and 2011 Air Academy was named a finalist and AA class champion at the BOA regionals in Texas and Arizona. Since starting at Legend High School in 2009 the first year of the program, the Titan band has been a finalist in 3A, 4A and 5A classes. While maintaining an active schedule teaching, David consults, designs, and writes drill for several percussion ensembles and Winter Guards. He very active in the winter guard arena, David served as assistant Director and designer of Alchemy Winter Guard. Alchemy is a 7 time RMCGA Class champion, 4 time WGI Regional Champion, 2 time WGI Semi-finalists, 1 time RMCGA Silver Medalist and 1 time WGI Finalist. David is in his 10th season as an active judge for The Rocky Mountain Color guard Association and in his 3rd season as an Adjudicator for the Colorado Band Masters Association.
