John Pollard

John Pollard is an active educator, composer and clinician residing in Texas, where he works with L.D. Bell High School and Bedford and Hurst Junior Highs. Mr. Pollard is music coordinator for Yamaha's Sounds Of Summer program, serves on faculty with Bands Of America's Summer Symposium, directs percussion for the National Concert Band Festival's Honor Band of America and is an assistant director with Metro Alliance of DFW. He has chaired the Texas UIL Percussion Prescribed Music Committee, selected TMEA's All-State Percussion Music and served on committee for PASIC 2000 in Dallas. Mr. Pollard assisted with MTV's production of Super Bowl XXXVIII Halftime in 2004 and instructed BOAs 2005 Tournament of Roses Honor Band in Pasadena, CA. He is a two-time recipient of the HEB Education Foundation's “Award of Excellence,” is published by Rowl-Off Productions and has written for Percussive Notes, Drum Corps World and corporate periodicals. He consults with and composes for marching bands and drum corps in North America and Japan.

Mr. Pollard's students have finished first at Percussive Arts Society national competitions and in Texas All-State Bands and Orchestras. The L.D. Bell Drumline has won the PASIC National High School Standstill Competition. The marching band is a two-time Texas UIL 5A State Marching Champion and was awarded the John Philip Sousa Foundation's Sudler Shield in 2005. The band has been a repeat champion at Bands Of America regionals and has received Best Music & Best Visual Performance awards at BOA's Grand National Championships, twice finishing in the top 5. Mr. Pollard's concert bands have earned annual Texas UIL Sweepstakes award and “Best In Class” honors at contests and festivals. The L.D. Bell Symphonic Band has performed at the Midwest Clinic and has advanced to the TMEA State Honor Band Contest. Mr. Pollard is a consultant for the Yamaha Corporation of America, Vic Firth Drumsticks, Zildjian Cymbals and Evans Drumheads.
